Blowing the Shofars - November 18, 2001

As we are drawing near the completion of the 40-day period of fasting for Quebec and the Francophones in Canada, we feel to call the church in Canada to a corporate prophetic act on the last day of the fast, November 18. A few pastors in Quebec have sensed that we should blow the shofars simultaneously all across the land. (The shofar is fundamentally a signaling instrument, especially in times of war. It signaled a call to arms, Jgs 3:27; 6:34; Neh 4:18-20; a warning of impending war, Jer 6:1; Ezk 33:3-6; Hos 5:8; a retreat, 2 S 18:16; the proclaiming of victory, 1 S 13:3; and the disbanding of forces, 2 S 20:1,22. Its voice alarmed the enemy, Jgs 7:8, 16-22, and was a fearful symbol of war itself, Jer 4:19-21) We are thus asking the spititual leaders of the nation to assign people to go to strategic places in every city or area to blow the shofars as a declaration of unity and a proclamation of the purposes of the Lord for our nation. The time will be 5:00 pm in Quebec (Pacific 2:00 p.m., Mountain 3:00 p.m., Centrale 4:00 p.m., Eastern 5:00 p.m., Atlantic 6:00 p.m., and Newfoundland 6:30 p.m.)

If you feel to participate in this prophetic act, we would ask that you send an email to quebec@watchmen.org indicating the name of your city and where you have chosen to blow the shofar. Also if the Lord releases any revelation to you relating to this prophetic act, either before or during the time the shofars are being blown, please do not hesitate to submit these to quebec@watchmen.org

The call to the fast originally came out of Quebec and we have been overwhelmed by the massive response of English Canada to join in, from coast to coast, from the east to the west to Nunavut. We feel this is a confirmation of what the Lord spoke to the National Fathers in the September Gathering in Kelowna, that the Lord had ordained this fast for a purpose that goes beyond the French people alone. We have rejoiced to see that the Lord is indeed working in the heart of the whole nation, preparing French and English for a time of true reconciliation and healing that will glorify the Lord and astonish the whole world.

We encourage everyone to persevere until the end of the 40 days, for the success of this fast, which is not an end in itself, but rather a step of preparation to open the heavens, and see the release of the words Let My People Go!
