A
marriage is coming, a marriage is coming, a marriage is coming into
Canada! And in this case, the bride and the groom are England and
France. And the bride and groom are not going to have a divorce but
the bride and groom are going to be married!
And
the Lord will take the redemptive gifts of the French mystics of old
and the prophetic anointing that was on the Huguenots. And He is
going to wed it with the regal understanding and the teacher
anointing upon the English. And the word and the spirit shall be
wedded together…
And
they shall not repel, but there shall be a union. There shall be a
joining of the redemptive giftings of the English and French. And it
shall be mingled and brought together in this nation. There is
going to be something different is going to happen and the spirit of
adoption shall come upon the nation. And there is going to be a
birthing that is going to happen in the church and the offspring
that is going to come is going to carry the mystical and the
teaching, the school of the word and the school of the spirit
brought together to bring about a new apostolic era. A new apostolic
opportunity because we have the privilege of writing history before
the throne of the Almighty. Jim Goll, June 4, 2004
A few
weeks ago someone brought to my attention this word, given by
well-known American prophetic minister Jim Goll, during a conference
in Regina, SK last summer. Jim knew about the wedding, having
connected with our team during our visit to France in preparation
for the Homecoming. But this interpretation from the Lord, of the
marrying of the spirit (the prophetic) and the word (the teaching
anointing) gave me a whole new spin on the One Heart gathering. Not
only is One Heart about healing an ancient wound of division between
French and English, but it’s about releasing Canada’s destiny in a
whole new way.
A New
“Old” Model
In
the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas,
Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought
up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping
the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me
Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So
after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them
and sent them off. Acts 13:1-3
This
passage gives insight as to how the early church functioned. Acts
13 is a unique model of corporate unity among leadership of diverse
giftings, waiting on the Lord together, who clearly discern and obey
the Holy Spirit’s direction. I believe the Bible specifically
emphasizes that there were prophets and teachers present because
this represents the balance of the spirit and the word. When the
prophetic word comes and it is confirmed through the scriptures,
there is an agreement of two witnesses and the word is established
in the spiritual realm.
The
longing of our heart has been to come into the maturity demonstrated
in the Acts 13 model. At gatherings we have sought to come together
collectively as diverse giftings and lay down any personal agendas
or plans, waiting on the Lord until we come into agreement
corporately of what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church in
Canada. Once God reveals His heart to us and what steps He has for
us to take, we are committed to do whatever it takes to see those steps
fulfilled. We believe that without this model at the foundation of
our journey towards unity, we would never reach our goal – which is
to see the prayer of Jesus in John 17 being fulfilled – that they
may be one and He as the Father are one.
So as
I heard this word from Jim Goll, suddenly in my spirit I could see
how the journey to heal French and English and the journey to
restore the one accord unity will intersect at One Heart this summer.
Not
just Intersection, But Convergence
As I
was marveling at the intricacies of God’s purposes and plans, I felt
the Holy Spirit challenged me even more. He said to me, “One Heart
isn’t just an intersection, David, it is a place of convergence”.
At that moment, I realized how in so many ways, everything that we
have been working for, praying for, sacrificing for, and travailing
for, are coming together in one place this summer.
We
knew our journey with the Jewish people was key to transitioning our
nation from judgment into favour. We know now that without the
repentance in the Winnipeg Gathering in 1999 and the church
representationally welcoming the Jewish people into Canada (at the
Dinner of the St. Louis) we could not lay claim to the glory of God
coming to our nation. The spirit of God cannot find rest in a
nation where the sin of anti-Semitism has not been corporately
addressed. So these acts of repentance and contrition give us
today an open door of faith to believe that this summer the Lord is
going to give us a glimpse of His glory, as He promised to give us
in John 17, and this will be the catalyst to birthing the first seed
of one accord unity.
Then
I thought about the journey God has been leading us on to be a
healer to the nations. We have seen first steps in this, as God has
caused us to walk closely with leaders from Taiwan, Hong Kong,
Germany, and Switzerland. For e.g. God used Canada as a birthing
place for a significant journey of healing in Switzerland when in
Charlottetown in 2002, the Swiss and Amish leaders first met and
repented to one another. This triggered a nation wide repentance 9
months later and just last week I returned from a conference with
the Swiss, the Amish and the Mennonites in the Eastern United
States. The journey continues.
God
also used Canada in Taiwan to walk with the leadership as they
prepared for a national repentance from idolatry in February 2003.
20,000 Taiwanese met together to weep and lament and ask God to turn
back his judgment from the nation.
Now
however, I can see that God means to use the covenant between French
and English to restore a deep truth to the church and the
ramifications of this will be far beyond just Canada. And just like
with any restored truth, once one person or group of people or
nation, breaks through, suddenly it opens a floodgate of faith for
many others to lay hold of the promises. So I believe that our
victory at One Heart will mean many victories for the body of Christ
in many regions of the world, whether they know about what God has
done in Canada or not.
The
Aboriginal People
The
longing of our hearts since the first gathering in Whistler in 1995
has been to see the First Nations, Metis and Inuit set free and
healed. We have walked in some small steps but over and over the
Lord has made it clear to us that we needed the healing of French
and English and a new level of authority in order to address the
principalities and powers binding the aboriginal peoples. As we
come to One Heart and the Lord seals this covenant between French
and English, I believe it will finally be time for us to turn to the
enemy and with authority declare “Let my people go!” So not only
will one heart be a convergence of many existing journeys, but it
will be the launching place of an important new journey – to see the
aboriginal people set free!
This
is why we believe that the participation of the Aboriginal Peoples
in One Heart is so important. We believe God has a remnant of
Inuit, Metis and First Nations who He has prepared as forerunners
for their people for such a time as this. We are calling on all
First Nations and Inuit believers to come to One Heart and to take a
place of honour at the head of the Parade of the Nation that will
take place on Sunday July 31, 2005. As we march through the streets
of Quebec City towards our celebration picnic on the Plains of
Abraham, I believe we will be making a statement in the heavenlies
that the body of Christ in Canada is one body submitted to one head,
the Lord Jesus Christ.
All
my love
David
