Day Three - Wednesday June 15
WE BELIEVE

This day we will look at what it means to speak out in faith what we believe about God, and being willing to stand on it!

Read Daniel 1:8-14

But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, but the official told Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you."

Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see." So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 

Now Daniel and his friends were not trying to be difficult here but were faced with a tough decision. They had to see what was important to their faith, and what they couldn’t compromise, and what were things that were neutral. They had agreed to training in the Babylonian language and literature, to new names, and they only said ‘no’ to food that was forbidden in the law of God.

As a part of the Consecration Call we have chosen to take a stand like Daniel and His friends did.  They said, “God you are more important than these things and we want to obey you totally.”  Daniel and his friends did without certain types of food that were forbidden but went further and only ate vegetables and water for 10 days. They KNEW their God and totally trusted Him. They EXPECTED God to show up.  God honored their trust and after 10 days they were healthier and smarter than all their classmates.  As a result they were promoted to greater influence in Babylon. Again it was their obedience and trust in God.

Now you could do the same and only eat vegetables fruit and water for 10 days but the point of this fast is that you are saying that you want to make a statement that you trust God totally.  Daniel did not want to be made unclean outside or outside by the society that he was in.  

What could it be for you?

LET”S PRAY: Dear God, I really want to follow Daniel’s example and trust and obey you totally. Show me what it is that you want me to do for the next ten days as an act of faith to show you and myself I believe you are God above all Gods Amen
