Stones of Remembrance: A Procession of Thankfulness
The Vision On the Canada Day long weekend in 1999, thousands of believers
from across Canada gathered in Winnipeg in response to a call from God to
weep, lament and travail for the sins of our nation so that prophesied judgment
could be averted and the Lord's face of favour could be turned toward us
and the healing of our land could begin.
On July 1st, the Lord heard our cry and, in wrath, remembered mercy and
received our sacrifice of a broken and contrite spirit.
That afternoon, the assembled believers prophetically built an altar from
stones they had carried with them to Winnipeg from all across the nation.
A prayer was prayed that God and the angels would be witnesses of these
stones which themselves had become witnesses to the mercy and favour of
God. As we prayed, a double rainbow filled the skies of Winnipeg.
This was the beginning of a journey, taken by a remnant of thousands of
believers, seen and unseen, known and unknown who were bound by one common
desire: to see the healing of our nation's wounds and the church transformed
into a resting place for the glory of the Lord . It has been a 10-year journey
of testing, of waiting on the Lord to speak and reveal each step in His
strategy and of choosing to respond with unfettered obedience.
Today we have come to a transition, to a place of crossing over - as the
journey of one season ends and a new season begins: the chronicles of the
days of His glorious presence as He establishes His spiritual government
in His church in Canada.
This summer the Lord is summoning a remnant of His church to gather in Ottawa
at the Promise Gathering to celebrate His goodness to us during the last
ten years and to present ourselves before the Lord to be commissioned into
the new season. As a prophetic sign of this transition, the stones will
be brought from Winnipeg to Ottawa in a special procession of thankfulness.
